Ben Bickerstaff (1840- 1869) was born in Titus County near Gray Rock. He was the son of Henry Bickerstaff. Ben Bickerstaff was a member of the Gray Rock Dragoons and later the Eighth Brigade Calvary. Bickerstaff returned to Titus County after the war, and along with Bob Lee, Cullen Baker, and George English, caused much trouble for the Reconstruction Army. Bickersatff left Titus County and went to Alvarado, Texas, where he was killed. ( info by Traylor Russell)
