Notes Captain Kendall Lewis was born in Maryland in 1780, and moved to Georgia around 1800. In 1808 he became a resident of the Creek Indian Nation in what is now Western Alabama, marrying the daughter of a prominent Chief, Big Warrior. Kendall Lewis was a captain in the local militia in Alabama. In 1828, Lewis moved his wife to the Three Forks area of Oklahoma, near present day Muskogee. The Lewis's moved again in 1835, settling on Swannano Creek in Red River County, Texas, which in present day is Titus County. The Lewis's were the first permanent settlers in Titus County, and were the first to have land surveyed in the county. The couples only child, a son named Seaborn, was born in Titus County sometime during the 1840's. The Lewis's returned to Oklahoma around 1845, and Kendall Lewis died there sometime after the Civil War.
